The Keanu movie about the ronin was not as bad as the trailer led us to believe it would be. I saw it in a theatre with an aikido afficianado and she was also somewhat shocked by its overall quality, some aspects of the plot, and the treatment of the end of the story.

The second Hobbit movie is very good though I don't really enjoy the roller ( Read more... )

I got several books about music/music history for Christmas, because that's what kind of geek I am. I finished one about the Laurel Canyon music scene in the 60s - 70s that had lots of my growing up music in it. Currently reading a book about the rock scene in Detroit in the 70s, it's pretty good but in first person accounts so it's like reading a conversation between 50 people.

Herb and I are currently watching "Burn Notice" on Netflix, it's nice spy-filled actiony stuff with lots of girls in bikinis in the background, which we both appreciate. (It's set in Miami) Also, my brother-in-law introduced us to this perfectly horrible/awesome show on Adult Swim called "Rick & Morty" which is bizarre and really hard to explain. But horribly awesome...and awesomely horrible at the same time. :)

I'm not nearly as esoteric as you, but these are my current obsessions, along with learning to cook, and being a servant to the cats. :)

Oh neat, those musical history books sound right up your alley.

I've meant to watch Burn Notice on purpose since it wrapped, so I should add it to the queue. The few I saw when it was on the air were alot of fun and the tradecraft was pretty good, too, which is nice. And Bruce, yay!

You guys should watch all of Life if you haven't and the Netflix originals are all quite good in different ways. I'm a big fan of Hemlock Grove, and not just because of the cinematography and wardrobe. The ending is really good, though Life is arguaby better.

It good to hear from you! She might be settling into stay in town more this year which would have us out of the house social-like a bit more often. epona will probably be in the loop most as they chat.
