Today was just as remarkable as yesterday, and tomorrow will be the same.
My theory is that something important happens every day of your life. You may not realize it, but something life-changing happened. Something that a person said to you will start a chain of thoughts and ideas that will lead you to run for president in ten years. Well, maybe not run for president, but something like that. Everything is connected, and even the most boring, insignificant day of your life shaped the person you are today, and today helped shape the person you will be tomorrow.
All of that might make you think I believe in fate. I don't. I believe that certain events in our life (like running for president, as an example) are predetermined, but how we get to them and what we do after is up to us. If there was no such thing as free will, whatever was determining our destiny wouldn't bother to make humans such inquisitive, complicated creatures. If we were only a tool for making a larger plan work correctly, it would be much simpler to make us mindless machines. Machines, if they're working properly, obey orders. Humans do not. Giving us individual thoughts would be an unnecessary step, and fate or no fate, the creative minds of humans would find a way to do what they wanted.
