My New Room
I got the room with the lesbian couple for $350 a month and I’ve been living there since the 23rd of January. I have a lot in common with my roommates Andrea and Jamie. They are open-minded, and they love reading and learning things. They are active in the GLBTQ community. They practice Wicca. And they love animals. The house is full of animals. There are four cats: Weeble, Harlequin, Echo and Pandora. They have two turtles that hang out in their huge tank in the kitchen and then there is Ishtar, the boa constrictor, chilling in the living room. I’m loving it out in Brooklyn. Now I totally understand why some people I know would rather stay in their borough rather than venture out into the chaos that is Manhattan. Everything I need is in Brooklyn…including a beautiful Diana bunny who happens to only be two miles away from me. What a coincidence that is. I never even planned on moving to Brooklyn. I was hoping to find a place in Astoria, but I am very happy where I am now.
Vegas!
I spent February 3rd-7th in Las Vegas! That was my first time out west. Traveling again felt weird because I hadn’t been on a plane in about ten years. I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel which was fucking sweet. The weather was beautiful, 60 degrees during the day and a nice sharp chill during the night. Ah…if only New York weather would stay that way. I went to Club Rain and Rum Jungle. I saw and met the Platters, the Drifters, and the Coasters! Cirque due Solid’s “O” was totally amazing and beautiful…the acrobatics, the flamethrowers and fire eaters and contortionist. I wish I could do something that beautiful and amazing with my body. I felt as if I was in the middle of a movie while I was in Vegas. Everything was so wonderful. The hotels on the strip were like small towns unto themselves. Each one had different intricate architecture. You walked into a completely different world each time you walked into one. I’d love to live in Vegas for a few weeks or an entire summer so I could see more of its endless attractions. No one sleeps in Vegas.
Hasta Luego Enrollment Management
March 14th-Since I am not a registered student I had to leave my student aid job within a couple months of the start of the semester. I hadn’t made a big deal about my leaving the office. But, I was kind of hoping for some kind of recognition for my three years of work. So, around 3p.m. that day, everyone in the office got together to give me a surprise party! They had chips, soda and this huge, creamy, chocolate cake that said “Best Wishes Veronique”. It also had white chocolate slices with bunnies painted on them. I was actually appreciated (me and all my dedicated work) and was truly going to be missed. I’m going to miss everyone there too. That was the first job that I actually enjoyed. And I was confident and skillful in my work.
Fishes!
I have six goldfish swimming around in this mystical water world I created for them set up right near my bed. The sound of moving water helps me sleep better and I haven’t been having those nightmares or waking dreams that I would usually have all the time. My sleep is more peaceful now.
Animal Haven
I now work in a no-kill animal shelter out in Flushing, Queens. We have about 200 cats and I help clean, feed and care for them. And of course they love to play me. I work there four days a week from 9-5. I’m really not a morning person, but once I see all of my kitties I am alive and happy. I’m going to continue working here until I can figure out what to do about school.
Diana Bunny
I am in love with my Diana Bunny! We’ve known each other for almost two years. It is amazing to know that some in the world truly loves you…someone that you truly love too. So we have been spending lots of time doing things together and loving each other. We make each other happy and my life seems more content now. This is going to be an amazing summer….a summer of bunny love! Meow!
