Slowly, the land that would not die is brought back to life, signs of it here and there. People that should have had the release of death long ago finally receive it, and flowers bloom once more. It is a walk through a wasteland, as the trio continue on, until the horizon is broken up by a shimmer of blue. Water, the last of the elements, greets them as a gently lapping sea.
Walter's smile grows when he sees the water. "Now that's a welcome sight." He starts to move towards it then stops.
Rose looks at the water with a wariness that matches Walter's question.
Adrianna looks at the sea with distrust, and a frown. "I'm not sure," she admits. "There was no set of directions with all of this, back in Karm." There is a pause, and then a deeper frown. "Karm. Walter, dear? Was that a banishment seal you'd hit Cedrick with?"
Walter nods. "Yeah." He looks at the water. Then, "Oh."
Rose raises a brow. "Why is that important?"
Walter clears his throat. "We should probably hurry a bit."
"Indeed," Adrianna agrees with a nod, and looks to the water rather than Rose. "Walter sent Cedric home, in the banishing."
Rose takes a moment to parse the word 'home' then nods. "Yes," she says. "Let's."
It is, of course, about then that a big gold bird makes its way towards the trio. Walter's about to step into the water when the thing circles him and makes noise generally indicating that it'd rather like the message removed from its leg.
"I am not sure that's a good sign," Adrianna remarks at the messenger bird's appearance. She wades into the water, slowly. Phoenixes and oceans not being the best of friends.
Rose steps into the water and keeps her hand near her sword as she watches Walter and the bird.
Walter snatches the note, distracted by the bird and ignoring the women. He scans over it quickly and drops the letter into the water. A few steps are taken into the water before he urges, "Stop!"
Adrianna's strides are long, and she is trying to hurry. She's already up to her hips when Walter yells for them to stop. Turning to face him, her footing on the sand beneath gives, and she's pulled under the gentle seeming waves in the span of seconds.
Rose curses quietly and catches Adri's sudden fall from the corner of her eye. She moves towards the last place her sister was seen.
"Riptide!" Walter warns, squinting as he looks at the water for some shadowy sign of Adrianna.
If Adrianna is going to drown, she is at least going to do so spectacularly. A hand flails out of the water, then disappears again. Certainly the leather and weight of her boots are not of any help.
Rose points both hands at the water and spreads her palms wide in an attempt to shift the location of the riptide away from Adrianna.
Walter stands ready to dive in, but he lets Rose ... do what the powerful sorcerer-gods of Amber do.
The riptide starts to peel away from Adrianna, but the sea has started to grow violent as it grows deeper. She manages to break the surface, a gasp of air taken, and let out with a curse. It is a fight, for her to try and swim to the shore.

Walter dives past Rose and into the water. He might be grumbling to himself on the way down to get her. Or maybe he's drowning.

When Walter comes into sight, Adrianna makes to cling to him, like an overly affectionate octopus. This, likely, does not help in his rescuing ability.
Rose curses louder this time and plunges both arms into the water. She grabs Walter under the arms and pulls. Hard. Hoping that Adrianna still holds him.
Walter, finding himself between a Rose and an Adrianna, does not struggle. What man would?
Adrianna holds onto Walter, as if for dear life. As her head is pulled out of the water, she lets out a moist breath that involves emptying some of the vile sea water she had swallowed. She does not struggle, or move much, in attempt to make the rescue that much easier for Rose.
Rose stumbles backwards as she drags both Karms into shallower waters. She is too out of breath to speak but her expression does the talking for her.
Walter manages a "Thank you," when he's had a moment to catch his breath. He doesn't seem bothered by being wet.
Adrianna coughs up a bit more water, then offers, "Thank you, darling." She stumbles towards the shore, and sits down upon it, looking across the expanse of the sea. Something large can be seen in the distance, upon an island. "Swimming obviously will not work."
Rose nods to both of them and sits heavily on the sand. She glowers at the ocean.
"Didn't bring a potion for flying," Walter comments.
"Pity," Adrianna says, still peering, "That would have been wonderfully handy."
Rose looks upward. "No large birds to help us, I suppose."
Walter snorts. "Not unless Benedict sends another."
"Unfortunately I never learned how to sprout wings on my own, or walk on water," Adrianna says. Then pauses. There is a significant look to her sister. Specifically, her sister's feet.
Rose raises a brow. "Even I have my limits," she says with a complete lack of either humility or irony.
Walter stands up now and looks around. "Nothing to make a raft from, either."
"Of course you do, darling. How fast can you run?" Adrianna then looks towards Walter, and gives him a charming smile. "Darling, I need your shirt." She pulls off some of her own silver rings. "Rose, take off your shoes."
Rose unlaces her boots and drops each one onto the sand beside her. "What have you got in mind?" she asks.
"Is now really the time?" Walter asks Adrianna. Still, he strips off the wet shirt.
Adrianna pulls a very slim dagger out of the seam of her own boots, then reaches for Rose's boots. Walter is given a winning smile. "Seals are not my only hobby, when it comes to crafting. Now, I've never tried these in anything more than a reflecting pool...Rose, you'll have to move very quickly." The boots are slaughtered, until there is little left of them but the sole.
Rose says, "I see," almost as if she really does. "And what is to be my destination?"
Walter offers, helpfully, "The other side."
Adrianna tips her dagger to Walter, as if he has the idea of it. "You can trump me, from there. If you start to sink, you can easily shift into a different shadow." The her right hand bursts into flames, hot enough to start melting the silver rings within.
Rose pats an inner pocket of her tunic. "As long as trumps work here..." She pauses for a moment and then continues. "And they do."
Walter crosses his arms over his bare chest and watches Adrianna.
"Splendid," Adrianna chimes, as she uses a fingernail to mold the silver that has become like putty in her hands. It takes some work, and some swearing, but eventually the repurposed soles, shirt, and rings become a pair of sandals, offered over to her sister.
Rose puts the shoes on and smiles. "Quite nice, indeed." Then she stands and looks out over the water.
Walter mutters, "Hope this works."
Adrianna nods to Walter. "As do I. It /should/. As long as she runs fast enough that the water doesn't realize she's not supposed to be walking /on/ it."
Rose says, "Bloody water." She then takes several paces back from the waterline, crouches into a runner's stance and sprints for the sea.

"You never cease to amaze," Walter says as he watches Rose run like the wind.
"You flatter," Adrianna says to Walter. Her breath is held for a few moments, as she listens for the sound of splashing and flailing in water.
Rose's strides are long and fast. Each footfall displaces far less water than it seems that it should. She looks concerned, at first, but soon she smiles and even laughs aloud as she skims across the sea. There is a brief stumble as she misjudges the distance between herself and the crest of a wave but she recovers and eventually finds the other shore. She takes a moment to catch her breath before drawing Adrianna's trump and regarding it.
Adrianna straightens as she feels that familiar tingle of contact, and smiles. "Dear sister. Did you enjoy your stroll?"
"Quite bracing," Rose declares as she extends her hand.
Walter is not so familiar with trumps that he has a clue what's going on.
Adrianna holds her own hand out, to touch Walter. "You first, dear," she tells him, while placing her dagger back into her boot.
Walter takes the hand held out by Adrianna, then that of Rose, and steps through.
Rose's new shoes crunch into the sand as she steps back to make room for the new arrivals.
Adrianna follows through, and looks upwards with a deep breath. "And now, the final task," she says, looking upon the Keep which has served as Aubric's prison for four hundred years.
