(no subject)
i began working on a new painting last night.
it is a two part series dedicated to my grandmother.
this is my first attempt at a portrait. so far, it is looking nice.
here is a closer view of the face:
they aren't the best pictures in the world, but i couldn't help but share. also, i forgot to save the photo i'm using as reference onto the computer, so i can't post it up for you to see. it isn't quite as dark in real life.
i plan on keeping the background very simple, with solid blocks of color. it think it will help to emphasize my grandmother. the lamp and books sketched onto the other canvas will be detailed like the portrait....i'm not sure why. all i can tell you is i'm including them because they were in the photo, and seemed to belong.
