English Lessons
Day 141 February 1, 2007 Thursday
Today I worked again teaching English which is basically talking about myself.
So ya I have a reallllllly easy part-time job. I get to talk about myself. For 1 ½ hours. And this gets to happen about 6 times. And I get 15oo yen an hour (but Im there 6 hours and get paid for 3…). For the most part~ er…
Usually the conversation is me talking about my name, my parents and sisters names (everyone in my family has a different last name) and where they came from. I also talk a lot about Idaho while showing them pictures of an Idaho calendar. Usually one of the older ladies brings up the Movie “Bridges of Madison Country” and then potatoes. Seta-sensei thinks it’s interesting how me and many other people became interested in Japan through anime. So we end of talking about that for a bit, through the same conversations there are always different results and we always branched out into a new untouched on topic. Once we talked about the school system in college (like running start) and another group we talked about retirement and how nowadays kids are choosing to live apart from their parents which is different from the traditional way of doing things...
All the students this week (14) were older women in their 50’s and 60’s that wanted to grow and continue to learn English because either they were traveling around a lot or wanted to improve themselves. Cool ;D
