Day 104, December 25, 2006 Monday

Christmas day! Ryohei had to work so I was left in the house, was a little nervous but everything turned out okay. Studied a little and when Mrs.Nitta came home with ingredients, Yukari (17yr old beautiful sister) and I made Crepes! (whipping, sprinkles, chocolate and almonds) and Christmas cutter cookies! It really was fun but Yukari didn’t really use words to express what she wanted to say. Just sounds and motions  haha, I wanted to hear more Japanese but as long as we understood each other I guess! We did get to talking a little ;) After the kids returned home the crepes and cookies went FAST. Like they were never made or something…

But pretty much a relaxed all day today. In the evening the family except Yukari (working) and Grandma opened presents together. Thanks to a huge package my parents sent for the Kusabas and Nittas, we could open a lot of gifts. Kyohei got a cool Mariners pen that has a light at the end that shines the Mariners logo, Yukari got an American teen magazine, Azusa got some lotion, Toshikazu got a calendar of Idaho (What is this Idaho? He asked), Shuhei got a miniature model mariners baseball bat (What the hell is this? It’s too small to use!) and Ryohei got the most wanted envied present- a Jedi light saber that automatically springs out with the touch of a button. This was met with envious glares and comments from his younger brothers (I’ll trade you!! I can’t use this little bat but I could definitely use a light saber!!! etc.). I also got some books from my aunt and uncle and from the Nittas I got the sandals you wear with a kimono (ya, definitely DON’T fit), a small handbag, a totoro watch, a cool Oden pillow and a banana pencil case. It was so nice doing things with the Nittas, they are such a kind and funny family and make me feel really comfortable. I am happy I could spend Christmas here.
