It's been a very long time. To be honest, I'm a FB junkie and can mainly be found there these days.
For those that are here (and not befriended to me on FB) that do not know, I am now living in the Cleveland, OH area. The hubby is still in GA, but hopefully he will be joining us soon as we miss him terribly.
I'm no longer a peon in higher education. Now I'm a peon at a software company, which pays MUCH better and gives me the bragging rights of being called a Software Engineer. In my team, I'm one of only 2 females. I think the other female is more of an Analyst than an Engineer, though.
I must say though, I'm going through a rough time. The quick move up here was very stressful. I'm left knowing no one but my teenagers, and I'm feeling very lonely. My nearest friends are 8.5 hours away in TN. Part of it may be due to the fact that I'm out of my anti-depressant and Singulair. I may have one refill left, and I need to find a new doctor up here fairly quickly. Money has been tight, but I hope to have my relocation reimbursement soon.
At work, I've been doing nothing but 'training' in the 3 weeks I've been there. Training consists mainly of me watching videos on the software product, and a lot of it relies on my knowledge of basic accounting. :( Part of the problem is that they finished up and shipped out a new version just before I started. Right now, the team is in limbo really (other than a few people having to work on bugs that occasionally pop up).
The highlight of my day was a 'training' session on using a program called TestComplete used to help write test scripts. Ignoring the fact that the code I wrote was VBScript (I'm a C# kinda girl all the way), I GOT TO WRITE CODE!!! How geeky am I to be happy about this???
The up-side is that I think my team has it's kickoff for the next project on Friday. Perhaps then I won't be dozing off at my desk. If I were in a cubicle it wouldn't be so bad...but we're in what's called an Agile Work Area (all of the team in the same 'cubicle', staring across the desks at each other).
