Yesterday I went to my first Lutheran church service. My husband and I had gone to Huntsville for the weekend and were visiting our friends (went to see Spamalot...I highly recommend it!...but that's for another post). James had asked if we wanted to come watch him sing, as he had a solo that morning, and so we went.

It was the first time I'd felt comfortable enough in a church not to want to go run screaming in 20 years.

Well, I was slightly uncomfortable, but that was only because I didn't know what to expect...and the fact that my husband was raised in a very strict Baptist church...so sitting next to him was a little unnerving. Mainly because I knew he didn't agree with the ceremonial part of things.

I felt welcomed. I felt like it was a group of people joined together to worship instead of a room full of kids being lectured to. It was nice...and for once I didn't tune out what was being said.

When and if we move to Huntsville, I think I'd like to continue going with them, whether my husband goes or not.
