Coda to episode 5.12 with a couple of 5.10 spoilers thrown in the midst. Sam wants to be prepared in case something like this happens again. And in between the pretty lights and the octopus, Dean's distracted.
Aw, this was good. Really, really good. A bit subdued and that makes it perfect. I liked the line about how Sam had stopped playing around so much when he'd grown taller than Dean, and then Sam's introspection on when and why he'd become immune to Dean's charisma. And yes, it's true that only Dean could turn his would-be killer into an ally and a friend! First Ronnie, then Gary - he's really making a habit of this. Even Gordon seemed kind of fond of Dean in a "he's deluded and needs to be saved from himself" sort of way.
This bit in particular made me wince: "It made Sam wonder if he’d ever truly seen Dean the way other people saw him. It made him wonder if, in between obsessing with killing Lilith and the demon blood addiction, Sam had even bothered to really see Dean after coming out of Hell." It's spot on and incredibly painful, but I like that bit of hope you give to the ending. Not asthma or lungs indeed.

It was charisma, a compelling presence that lured everyone staying too long in his orbit, into Dean’s spell.
I want to be around Dean after only reading that!
I like the brotherly vibe this has.
