I love the juxtaposition of colors - cold blue (Dean's usual color-scheme on the show) and firy reddish hues. The 'path of ascension', depicted through Dean's close captions is symbolically tell-tale too: from anguish to shame to placid rue to celestial glory. And I can wax metphoric on and on over the implications of the Tree imagery and how ties down to Dean presumably being 'an affront to the structure of the universe'.
