Fandom: Justified, for cybertoothtiger Title: song for a winter's night Word count: apx 950 Characters: Ava/Boyd Warnings: Spoilers for the series Author's notes: Under the cut
Because oh my Lord I can hear him. And Ava! And just. This is them, and I am made of delight and wide smiles and JOY.
This exchange, in particular:
“And I saw this hat at the store today and I thought…. I’d see.”
“See what?”
“If it …works?”
Boyd clears his throat, unable to process what exactly she means. “Well if you tell me your intended outcome, I’ll tell you if it worked.”
“Well,” she says, shifting uncomfortably in her chair. “For you to like it. In a….sexy way?”
He smiles at her, the way her laughter seems a bit nervous.
“I sure do like that hat, Ava.”
I am over the river and through the woods with LOVE; this comes across as so easy, and I adore Ava's uncertainty, and Boyd just being so adorably clueless - help, I am dead of wonderful.
And the "fire in the hole" discussion is comedy gold, and pure Ava. Jesus in a Jacuzzi. Because it bears repeating: I CAN HEAR HER.
You are just...too kind for words. Seriously. THANK YOU for reading this. I'm so GLAD that you thought Boyd was Boyd and that you could hear the characters. You have no idea the unbelievable dorky grin that gives me.
I'm cracking up that you edited this. I read it last night before bed and had NO trouble with coherence, beebs.
Anyway, fire in the hole! And Ava. And Boyd's headspace, and REALLY? At the beginning, since i don't really ship them, I didn't think I'd have as much fun with this as I ended up having. Because I just...love the way he loves her and always sorta has. SO I'm just glad that you enjoyed, too.
Did you know that?
You should know that.

I want to adopt the phrase "Jesus in a Jacuzzi" into my various conversations with people, possibly even when totally inappropriate.

Because the inappropriate times? Yeah, those are the appropriate ones. >:DDD

That would turn a few heads.
