For Hofstra Journalism Majors - or anyone else who may have taken a class with him...

Feb 17, 2009 20:38

I just got this email today.

"The Hofstra community is saddened by the passing of Robert Licata, assistant professor of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations, a beloved teacher and 2007 recipient of the University's Teacher of the Year award. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, February 18 and Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the N.F. Walker Funeral Home, 2039 Merrick Avenue, Merrick. Funeral services will be Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Bellmore Presbyterian Church, Bellmore Avenue at Martin Avenue, Bellmore. Interment is at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.

University flags will be lowered to half-staff. A memorial will be planned for Professor Licata."

It's very strange...just last week I was in class with the gentleman who was asked by the department to cover Licata's classes for a while, because he was having serve health problems and they didn't know when he'd be well enough to teach again this semester. Shocking, the events that can occur in just a week.
