It has been ages since I have watched anything Trek related, but...
How can I not react to the news that, Benedict Cumberbatch who is playing Sherlock Holmes in the BBC's Sherlock as well as playing Smaug the Dragon in The Hobbit shall be cast as the villain in the newest JJ Abrams Star Trek flick.
Now I have not seen the first 'New' Trek movie since I generally resented the fact that they needed to revamp the franchise in the first place. Yes, the original was kind of cheesy, but it was damn fine cheese damn it. Thus I decided that no good Abrams character wasn't getting any of my money darn it.
So now that the 'sequel' is in the news I have heard more about the original Abrams flick and have been informed that the 'revamp' is actually more of an AU. So the series and universe I grew up with exists entirely seperate from JJ Abrams new universe. Now I am suddenly intrigued.
So now that I am kind of intrigued about the whole AU aspect, I might actually have to take a look at this movie. I might also have to take a look at it's sequel since, damn it Benedict Cumberbatch has that whole dorky attractiveness I sometimes fancy. Add to it the fact my inner Star Trek nerd, ST:TNG nerd to be specific is busy flailing over the fact that Data used to cosplay (seriously, they were totally cosplaying) Sherlock Holmes on the holodeck, and now the guy who is cosplaying playing portraying Sherlock Holmes is cosplaying playing portraying the villain in Star Trek. My inner nerd girl is doing flappy hands of geeker joy. Of course it could be that only my inner nerd girl can make this kind of convoluted association.
Anywaythat is what is keeping me up this late at night. At least it is good news. Oh and the fact I mainlined the last 20 chapters of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles and I needed time to process that trippy shit. My summery of the ending so far, Watanuki and Syaoran got screwed in the end, and Fai and Karogane are dating. I realize this means nothing to anyone who hasn't read the manga or watched the anime, just believe me when I say these are true facts.
Now I should really go to bed.
