On Oaks, Willows, Rainbows, and Me.

My parents are crazy hippies. Riddles were the main point of my naming ceremony (don't judge) and the one that my name is derived from is something along the lines of:

Why is the Willow stronger than the Oak?
Because the Willow lays down in the storm and the Oak topples over.

Like I said, crazy hippies. Oh well, I turned out awesome anyway.

But this is only the first part of my story.

My parents lost their first child to complications after birth, which, as you could imagine, would be extremely traumatic. I, consequently, was a very wanted and worried about baby. Though there were pot brownies and the Simpsons present at my birth. I am not even kidding. When I was brought home, roughly the 9th of August, there was a rainbow striped hot air balloon right over our house. There's some crazy balloon launch around my birthday every year. After much commotion and scrambling for a camera, my mother decided that I was her "rainbow healing baby" because, well, she is a crazy hippy.

The rainbow part of my story does not stop there.

My first gifts were rainbowy things; I loved the hell out of that rainbow coat- it was red with rainbow piping on the sleeves. I am pretty sure my mother had to seal it while I was sleeping to get rid of it because it didn't fit me anymore...
The first thing I drew was a rainbow when no one showed me how...
And I still love rainbows and I'm kind of a lesbian.
Rainbows? Totally important to me. Moving on to part three...

So I'm looking around on Tonzr.com today for some awesome free ringtones. No really. Awesome site. Check it out. I did discover that it hates my phone, though... Anyway, I search "Willow" because, I mean, why not have a ringtone that has something to do with my name? And I find a song called "I am Oak and I am Willow" by Willow- which is actually kind of an awesome song.

I'm pretty sure my crazy hippy mother will freak when I make her listen to it.

life, "on" series
