Work

Something happened today at work that really got to me. I had an old lady pass out in my lane as I was ringing up her groceries. I think she had a seizure. It was really scary. And what really got to me is that, before the paramedics had even been called, the person who was behind her in line asked me in a huffy voice "Does this mean I need to change lanes?”. I was then instructed to move to another lane so that I could still wait on customers (even though I was majorly shook up). Since when has our society gotten so self-centered that they can not even stop for two seconds to show a moment of compassion to a stranger? Are we all that heartless now?
