[A talking plant. How quaint. He wasn't sure what to make of this one.]

How did you learn to talk?

[He has to think on that a moment.]

Umm. I was just grown that way, I guess.

[Steve smiles a big smile. It's a new person! He seems nice. :D] How about yourself? When were you able to talk?

Oh, oh! What's your name? Mine's Steve.

Grown that way, hm? Curious. Never have I met a talking plant before. A venus flycatcher I presume? Or are you another variety of carnivorous plant?

Steve. I was able to talk when my mother and father taught me to. Around my early infancy.

I'm a Piranha Plant. And I...don't really like to eat live, squirmy food much. [Derpy smile is derpy, and sheepish.] I like dead fish, burgers and fries, chicken sanwiches, spicy food--stuff like that.

My kind have big appetites, and bugs aren't usually very filling.

[And after hearing nice guy mentioning his parents.] Ohhhh. My mom taught me what was tasty and edible, and what wasn't. She also taught me how to navigate through the warp pipe system, and how to breathe fire.

She wasn't very accepting of me for a while, because I'm a lot nicer than most of my kind. That, and I talk more--'cause I like to talk. It took time, but she got used to it and still loves me.

A Piranha Plant, hm? Interesting. I have not met anyone like you before. You are unique, Steve. [Oh yes, he was.]

I'm sure you eat a lot. Do you like flies? [Ok, was he a fly trap?]

Mom, Cousin Petey, and all my family have said that at some point--so that must be true. [Gee, what a nice thing to say!]

[Steve's very big red and white spotted head tilts a little sideways.] Bugs? Uh, if there were a lot, and they weren't really squirmy. [He blushes a little, and there's his awkward derpy smile. The next sentence he whispers, because to him it's...a bit of an awkward thing to mention.] I honestly don't to eat stuff that's very alive.

[Gen nodded.]

So, you prefer dead food instead then?
