How did you learn to talk?

Umm. I was just grown that way, I guess.
[Steve smiles a big smile. It's a new person! He seems nice. :D] How about yourself? When were you able to talk?
Oh, oh! What's your name? Mine's Steve.

Steve. I was able to talk when my mother and father taught me to. Around my early infancy.

My kind have big appetites, and bugs aren't usually very filling.
[And after hearing nice guy mentioning his parents.] Ohhhh. My mom taught me what was tasty and edible, and what wasn't. She also taught me how to navigate through the warp pipe system, and how to breathe fire.
She wasn't very accepting of me for a while, because I'm a lot nicer than most of my kind. That, and I talk more--'cause I like to talk. It took time, but she got used to it and still loves me.

[Steve's very big red and white spotted head tilts a little sideways.] Bugs? Uh, if there were a lot, and they weren't really squirmy. [He blushes a little, and there's his awkward derpy smile. The next sentence he whispers, because to him it's...a bit of an awkward thing to mention.] I honestly don't to eat stuff that's very alive.
