CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: John Egbert
CANON: MS Paint Adventures: Homestuck
CANON REFERENCE: http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/John_Egbert
AGE: 13
GENDER: Male
YEAR IN SCHOOL: MS-1
ENROLLMENT: Good ol' Grandpa Harley funded John's request to go to Reims. That, and Grandpa couldn't say no to Jade wanting to go to school with her brother.

APPEARANCE: John's appearance can only be described as geeky. His average height and average build really isn't anything special. He has black hair that you can't even called styled-- it's more like a permanent bed-head. He dresses in fairly average clothing, when out of his uniform, with his t-shirt of choice including a Japanese bootleg design of Slimer from Ghostbusters. John also has horribly large, thick glasses that he doesn't even wear for irony, and an overbite that protrudes so much an orthodontist would cry. He's really the mascot image for an awkward, 13 year old boy.

PERSONALITY: Zoosmell Pooplord John is a prankster to the core. It's as if his point in life was to terrorize the world (or mainly his friends,) with horrible jokes. He's a huge goof, and will take any opportunity possible to crack a joke. He keeps a chest of 'magical' whatnot in his room, as a resource for his tricks. Although, even he realizes that his 'humourous ideas' are just plain stupid (sometimes), such as when he tries to don a clever disguise.

Just barely a teen, John retains many of the qualities a child would have. He's an honest boy who is extremely light-hearted and good-natured. Even a bit immature, keeping things such as a tire swing, and a pogo ride in his front yard. He beams with optimism, enough to be noted by his friend, Rose.
EB: i am still skeptical about that, though.
TT: That's why you're our leader, John.
EB: huh?
TT: Optimism through stalwart skepticism is a defect not everyone is lucky enough to be cursed with.
On the downside, he can be really oblivious sometimes. Ignorance is bliss, after all. John fails to see when a girl may be crushing on him hard, and it actually has to be pointed out to him before he realizes anything. He may not always think things out fully, either. He is also extremely gullible, easily tricked into uncomfortable situations. (See: In canon, he is tricked to his death, twice.) But he is also forgiving, and tries to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. He's rarely one to hold a grudge, or lose his temper for that matter. This doesn't mean he can't get mad, it just takes some serious wrong-doing to get him riled up.

Like any young teenager, John has issues with his father. John avoids talking to his father whenever possible, and will even fight him. He harbors great disdain for the cakes his father is constantly baking, therefore he dislikes his father for baking these cakes. John's dad also decorates the house with harlequins, and even gifts John one, and really, John just isn't a fan. John feels as though his father just doesn't understand him. Rose suggests to John that the harlequins are John's father's way of communicating with John, connecting John's love of magic and pranks to the harlequins.

Even though John and his father have communication issues with each other, John does care deeply about his father. If John's father were to seemingly fall into a bad situation, such as disappearing, John would definitely worry, and even try to seek his father out.

But he really does hate his father's baking. It's not like it's bad or anything! His dad just bakes too much. John will have a fit when presented with a plethora of cakes or other baked goods, and bears some ungodly hatred for the Cretty Bocker franchise (and how they got a hold on his precious Froot Gooshers.)

Fitting his image, he is incredibly geeky. Aside from practicing pranks or magic, John enjoys watching terrible films as a pastime. He doesn't criticize the films, or poke fun at them-- he just has a poor sense of taste and legitimately thinks the films are good. When he's not doing that, he spends his time reading comics and manga, plays games here and there, just like any good nerdy boy.

John's probably the best friend anyone could ask for. He maintains extremely close relationships with Rose, Dave, and John, even making an effort to send them all gifts for their birthday-- going so far as getting Sten Biller's shades for Dave. The gifts John gives are perhaps intended to help his friends in some way. Through an intuitive nature, he points out some psychological problems his friends have, along with some general mush about what great friends they are while writing notes to accompany the gifts to his friends.

John can count on Rose for her intellect, and is who he confides in when discussing his father. John and Dave are the best of friends, whom constantly exchange in friendly banter. John really supports Dave, and wants to help him in any way possible to get Dave out of his brother's shadow. Jade, of course, is John's dear sister.

John Egbert is also not a homosexual.

COMPUTER APTITUDE: He likes to program computers, but he's not very good at it. This kid has probably spent half his life on computers. He's a bit more tech-savvy than average, but seeing as he has no use for hacking things, his knowledge in that subject is pretty minimal.

AU HISTORY: Good news is, John's mother gave birth to a healthy set of twins, promptly named John and Jade! Bad news is, she died shortly after. John's father, overwhelmed with this, didn't trust himself enough to be able to take care of two newborn babies without assistance. His late-wife's father took upon the task of taking care of Jade, while John stayed with his father. Jade was whisked away to some remote island, taking upon her mother's maiden name, "Harley," and John grew up in a fairly normal suburban neighborhood.

John and Jade kept in close contact through the internet. Eventually, through mutual interest, John and Jade began to play an MMORPG called "Sburb." During their online adventures, they befriended another pair of siblings, Rose and Dave, whom they became very close with. They all spent countless hours playing the MMORPG, leveling up their characters, and their friendship. The group also had a run-in of "trolls," that were initially a nuisance, but eventually became decent friends.

John developed a fondness for magic and pranks, but a disdain for the harlequins his father uses to, perhaps, connect with his son. He spent much of his time learning the tricks and ideas for stage magic and pranking. He also spent a lot of his time watching (terrible) movies. He became some sort of horrible film connoisseur, and began decorating his room with posters to pay tribute to these films. Even going so far as to idolizing Nik Kage, and the movie Con Heir, which prompted Dave to buy John this sweet rabbit.

Information about Reims was spread through the grapevine, via Rose and Jade, and John thought it would be a great idea to attend school with his closest friends. He talked to Jade about the idea, and Grandpa Harley financed both John and Jade's tuition.

LOG/3RD PERSON SAMPLE:

John's making sure to take full advantage of his roommate's absence. He has to use this time wisely, he needs to set up the perfect prank. There's an undeniably mischievous aura surrounding him. He's set his mind to do this, and he's not going to let anyone stop him. Maybe. Okay, if an administrator catches him, he'd probably stop. Except, he can't let that happen, so he's going to be extremely careful. He has to stop grinning like an idiot, so no one will suspect him of anything.

After sneaking into the janitor's closet, he's returning to his room with probably the most important item, ever: a bucket. John even made sure to stop by the bathroom on the way back to fill the pail with chilled tap water. He knows this is an extremely vital step. He is so ready for this, he's going to make this happen.

He glances around the room, just in case someone is watching him from the confines of his own privacy. Deeming it safe to continue, John puts the bucket down and grabs the chair from its place next to his desk, hoisting himself onto it after he sets it next to the door. He picks up the bucket and balances it oh-so-precisely over the slightly opened entrance. Of course he's mastered the art of balancing buckets over doors by now, it's pretty much the first skill an aspiring prankster needs to obtain. John can't stop smiling, he's enjoying this up way too much. Once the bucket is in place, he returns to the floor and moves the chair back to its proper positioning. He can't have an out-of-place chair causing suspicion, right? Right.

John takes a minute to admire his handiwork. Time well spent, he thinks. Everything about this is perfect. No one can possibly see through this trick, especially not his roommate. All he has to do now is sit back and wait for the magic to happen. Any minute now, his roommate should be stepping through that door, and John's prepared himself for the expected reactions, and his own satisfaction that will follow. Hell, he feels pretty damn satisfied already.

"Hehehehe..."

John Egbert cannot be beat in a prank-off, after all.
