It figures that the movie I watched inspired a slew of stories. Same character… bunches of stories. I watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yep, the green dudes inspired me.
Premise: It is near future near the old New York. The Foot Clan has taken New York and part of the east coast. The Shredder has driven and controlled the area the people there with the hand of fear. He had power and a lot of it. The United States Government acknowledged the lost of that land and gave a buffer zone to him as strip called the Green Zone, where farmers and fringers lived. They are US Citizens by default but with the right to enter Foot Territory with our fear of retaliation, for the most part. The Green Zone is where April and Casey Jones had settled with their children. April, formerly April O’Neil, had married her hokey masked man and had four children. She had left the city when twelve years earlier when the foot had tried to harm her kids. Fortunately she had some very well prepared godfathers to her children. They were the Turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donetello and Michael Angelo. There was a resistance to gain freedom from the Shredder and it was lead by the Turtles and their sensei Splinter. April and Casey helped when and where they could, even with four children in their care. Their home was only about six miles from the boarder of Foot territory. They knew the risks.
First story idea: the children come home from the market to find the house sacked and their parents missing. A symbol of the Foot Clan is found and they know that they have to find their godfathers to rescue their parents.
The other story gets into the particle sappy romantic side of myself and I really don’t know if I want to go there…. But I will anyway. Why because I like the story and the whole knight in shining armor saving the not such a damsel in distress (Yeah confusing) is something I like to do. Strong women characters rock.
Premise: In the world that I created the children are as such the oldest is a girl with a twin brother. Then there are two younger brothers as well. Each has one of the Turtles as their godfather (I know sounds very mobish but Uncle is just to familiar) by age. (Yes I know the Turtles are the same age but I figure it works out better if there is a kind of birth order.) Leonardo is the oldest; Raphael is next, then Donetello, and finally Michael Angelo. Also I had a thought on, ya know turtles live a really long time what if these age slower because of that fact and look only a couple of years older than teenagers. Then add in the mix that April’s daughter is Leo’s goddaughter and an honor bound fighter just like him. She trains the children of the area at her dojo but unknown to the Turtles she also trains with her brothers leading them to protect the Green Zone from the Foot raids. Also the Shredder had his own child only a few years older than the eldest. He has been taking over his father’s seat of power and has spied a particular female ninja who might equal him. Spin and fun.
Second story idea: Leonardo is having concept issues. He thinks he is falling in love with his goddaughter. But there are many things stopping his pursuing her. One, she his goddaughter, and two the age difference, three he’s a turtle she’s not (though Mikey says that’s not really a problem and Raphael agrees with him) and her father (Casey Jones hokey stick caring over protective father) and mother (April formerly O’Neil fiery red head) are his friends. Now he is on the farm with them because Splinter is dying and the close corridors are straining his resolve to let her find someone ‘better suited’ for herself. As the Turtles are there a Foot raid occurs, though not to get food. Shredders son has come and kidnapped the eldest Jones/O’Neil child, having seen her work train at her dojo. Now it is up to the Turtles and her brothers to rescue her. Great fight scene ideas and revelations of love and can a Turtle and human really make it work?
Now the first story can work without the second… good premise strong characters. I specifically didn’t talk about the children so if someone picks it up they can create what works for them. The second also can stand on it’s own… not quite as original in my mind, (pretty girl, kidnappings by a ‘prince’ she does not love, must be saved by a knight who is not sure he is worthy of her or has the right to love her… yeah I am looking around for the big metal lions too.) But I surrender these plot bunnies so I can write my own Kamikaze Plot Bunny Sebastian (yes my plot bunnies get names… especially when they stick around long enough… looks over at Rupert) and I leave it all in the capable hands of another fan-fiction author.
