Hey, I'm Maesi. I checked the rules, and it looks like you guys are pretty cool about stuff like this. If it doesn't belong, then delete.
There's a little Chihuahua named CiCi in a rescue in Ohio who needs surgery because of a back condition and deformities in her legs. I don't personally know the shelter but I volunteer at a cat rescue (
Catnip Acres) in my town and our Vice Prez knows her and she wanted me to spread the word. They aren't looking for donations but for people to vote for CiCi's brother, Scooter, in a Cutest Dog competition- if he wins they can win enough for CiCi's surgery. I have
more info about all this in a public post on my LJ (along with an email from the shelter, pics of CiCi and Scooter, and a video of Scooter from their local news) I just want to keep this short.
It just takes a moment to vote and it's free, you can go
here (
http://www.cutestdogcompetition.com/vote.cfm?h=FBE7926E0E5A33CCFB4D1F10A625CF85 ) and vote for Scooter. I think he needs something like a 1000 or so more votes, so if you could pass the word on that would be great- if you know anywhere else I can put this please let me know. Because of a system failure the site had, voting actually ends on Sunday (the 23rd) at midnight CST, so if you vote now you can vote again tomorrow- you can vote once every 24 hours.
I really feel for CiCi because it sucks to have a untreated disability with your spine and legs. I also am extremely appreciative for the kindness of others. One of my neighbours recently gave me a kitten named Anshu who was missing one of his feet (unsure what happened to his foot, something like a raccoon might have bitten it off), his mom was a feral cat that littered under that neighbour's porch that was one of the many cats abandoned by a cat hoarder in my town when she moved away a few years ago. I took him in and he needed his leg amputated and other kind people from Catnip paid for the surgery because there was no way I could afford it. And thank G-d they helped me, because the little bugger really grew on me and has a forever home with me now. I believe with the goodness of others that we can help CiCi, too. <3
Thank you so much for your time. :)
