Today, about a stop after I got on, this lady on the bus pushed by me, gave me a very biznatchy look and said, "You should take your knapsack off." I was wearing my Columbia jacket, carrying my chem textbook and my music folder, cause they wouldn't fit in my bag with my other three textbooks and binders... On a crowded, moving bus. I was really irritated. I know it shouldn't have annoyed me too much, but I mean, why do some adults think that they have the right to say anything they want to teenagers?
Anyways, I was relatively ticked off. But now, I'm listening to such cheery Tijuana Brass.. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Classics Volume 1, to be exact. It's ridiculously amusing music from the 60's. And of course I'm in awe of the trumpet player's skill.
So, as I predicted, this semester is a lot of work. It's not as bad as I expected in one respect though, because since it's mostly text notes, questions and handouts, I can just open my math text, work through the assigned pages, go on to chem, do the assigned pages, etc. I kinda get into a rhythm, and it's easier (though a lot less fun) than all the creativity work I had to do last semester. And by easier, I mean 10000x more tiring and exhausting and difficult, but... Yeah. I can get really focused on what I'm doing and not be distracted as easily as I would if I were writing an essay or something. And then forget dinner, and end up eating at 10:30, when I realize that I actually am hungry, not just imagining it. Oops. I've survived almost a week now, only 5 months or so left to go. [eye twitches spastically as I rock back and forth in a corner] I guess this is like a taste of what university will be like, only this is less stressful and less work. Right.
But there is something to (potentially) look forward to!!! The International Institute of Humanitarian Law holds an annual "Competition of Law of Armed Conflicts" for military academies. My dad will be a judge for this, and the Competition Director has asked me to work as an "Aide de Camp" (sort of like an assistant) to a general. Plus, the Director would provide me with an official excuse note from school so it would count as a field trip not as an absence. So I would be working there for April 4-8.
Ah, yes, did I mention? It's in Sanremo. Italy. On the Riviera. I did a little twirly dance when I heard that (!!) I mean, I've never been anywhere outside North America. Aah!
Excitement! I find out at the end of this week or next week... I mean, so what if I miss a week of the hardest semester ever! With that much advance notice, how could it not work out?
On to homework.
