So yes, I never update... But in my defense, I am doing things that are important.
Lots going through my head tonight. Can you still call them daydreams if they happen at night?
Anyway... what's been going on with me. It seems the last time I updated was in November, so here it goes.
December held the typical music teacher's nightmare of concerts, concerts, concerts. They all went well, but the drama leading up to them was really not worth the success. Believe me when I say that I really must love teaching to continue putting myself through that mess.
The holidays were fairly uneventful. Spent Christmas in Marissa, much to my mother's heartbreak. But we did travel north for the following weekend. And on the way back, we decided to ring in the New Year in Springfield instead of in Marissa. It was a lovely mini-vacation.
January held going to go see "Prairie Home Companion" live at the Fabulous Fox Theatre with my mom. We both had a wonderful time, even though I had to drive through St. Louis while it was snowing and sleeting. I also attended IMEA. Jess stayed at my parent's house with me, and I think we had fun. If nothing else, we learned how to play the harmonica.
February's big event was surgery. Starting in October, I had been feeling nauseous pretty much constantly. Then in December, some pretty intense pain was added to the mix. After putting me through a battery of tests ranging from peeing on a stick (to prove I was not pregnant) to being put to sleep so they could scope my stomach, it was decided mid-January that my gallbladder was definitely the culprit, and it must come out. I had surgery February 1st. And now that I am on the other side of it, I am really thankful I had it done. I was feeling miserable all of the time. I was missing a lot of school. And stuff was just not working out. But I am almost back up to snuff, and my attitude in general is much more positive.
March only started last week, but it has been busy already. This past weekend was Solo/Ensemble Contest for High School. They did okay, but they would have done better if I had been around for the month of February. Most of the kids only got about two weeks of practice with me before they were in front of a judge.
The future holds lots. I have an interview for summer temp work at 10:00 AM tomorrow/today. I'm hoping to make a little bit more money than I would at Steve's. Wednesday I actually have an interview for a teaching position. I am really worried about that, but what is supposed to happen will. I must leave it in much more capable hands than mine. Next weekend is Junior High Solo/Ensemble Contest. I expect them to do much better than the High School. JP's birthday is this week. He is going to be turning thirty. He seems to be taking it well. I hope I can be as graceful as he is being.
That's about it for the short version. I could of course go into very deep detail if you so wish, but I thought the abridged version would fit the task a little better. I make no promises as to when I will update next, but know that my friends page is my home page. I watch over you even if you don't know it. And I hope you are all continuing to grow and be the wonderful people I know you to be!
