Who’s the bad person for not updating? That’s right… ME!
I swear between adding too many classes to my schedule and life, I can’t keep up with this thing. I officially do not have a prep time any more. Woo Hoo for over-scheduling.
Some things are going well… and some things aren’t.
I have some awesome little kids in General Music. But Composition has some senioritis sufferers. They wanted a slack class (which it technically is still…) and refuse to do the homework. And then wondered why they did so poorly on the test… I don’t know what to do with them yet.
Fifth Grade Instrument Presentations are this Thursday. I’m nervous just because I don’t know if it will go as well as I want it to. We’ll see.
This past weekend Mom and Dad came down to visit. JP and I ended up cooking lunch for 11 people on Sunday. We had the dining room table and the kitchen table full. JP grilled some steaks Mom and Dad brought down. I cooked roasted rosemary/garlic/herb potatoes, corn casserole, asparagus, caramel apple salad, and Italian bread. Jeanie put together a fruit salad. For dessert JP’s aunt brought a pumpkin roll. We ate well.
This next weekend we are going camping down at Giant City. I am really hoping it doesn’t rain. I don’t want to sleep outside if it rains.
Then the next weekend is Fall Festival for me and a Camporee for JP. Then the next weekend is go north weekend. I’m hoping to see Grandma and Grandpa if not more people.
IMEA is again on Fall Concert. Not so excited about that, but oh well. I faxed and mailed in the stuff yesterday. It was just JH Choir kids. Not one band kid wanted to try out for it. And HS Choir is going to be really more of an Honors Choir sort of thing. I was going to make two of my clarinetists try, but they are also working on learning brass instruments so, I caved and said I wanted them to learn the brass instruments more.
Band overall is going better than expected. I only have ten students in band class. I’ve got two people that are in other classes that still want to play with us occasionally. I’ve got four sixth graders (two baritones and two clarinets). If life stays the same next year, I could have a decent band, but that’s what I’ve been saying for the last two years.
I’m in a quandary about my job. I love the kids, but I can’t seem to get them to participate. I don’t know if it is something I am doing or what. There is a possible jump to be made, but if it is me that is the problem, then the problems are going to follow me… What to do…what to do…
Any who…that’s about it for now…
Here are the “Ten Things That Make Me Happy.”
