So, I've had the last couple of days off. I have intelligently used them to type up a syllabus, catch up on sleep, go grocery shopping, and COOK. I made quiche last night and it was yummy. I don't know what I'm going to make for supper, but I am certain it will also be good ( Read more... )

I read Terry Prachet's "Small Gods." It is supposed to be a humourous jab at organized religion. It is a good Terry Prachett book to start out with since it isn't a part of his series. He's written something like thirty books about his Discworld. It is listed under science fiction at Border's, but it isn't really technical. It is kind of like a combination of Harry Potter, LOTR, and Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Little bit of magic, little bit of mythology, and a LOT of satire.

I also read the sixth Harry Potter, which I am CERTAIN that you have read. And if you haven't, SHAME ON YOU! ;)

The last book I read was a parody on "The Da Vinci Code" called "The Asti Spumante Code." I highly recommend you skip that one. Not worth the $7.50 I spent on it.

Now I'm read a book about Michaelangelo and the Sistine Chapel. I'm only thiry pages into it so far, but I like the author. I've read another book by him about Brunelescci's Dome (I just spelled that wrong...). He gives a lot of background and really has done his research into the topic yet remain readable.

Other books I've read this summer include, "The Sound of One Hand Clapping" and a trilogy of books from "The Dragons of Pern" series. I recomend the dragons if you are in a draggony sort of mood. The One Hand Clapping thing...not so much, though I did finnish it.

Oh yeah, I read JP another Terry Prachett book in the series about the Sorceror. You may like the Terry Prachett stuff. It is just goofy enough to be entertaining.

I haven't read as much as I would have liked to, but I've been watching too many movies.
