books I hate *ahem* :
Wuthering Heights (hereafter to be referred to ONLY as TPATMFTG--"tuh-pamf-tuh-guh"--The Place Across The Moor From Thrushcross Grange) i can't even describe the horrors of this book...
Animal Farm--i read it in... fifth grade. so i really didn't get it--i mean, most of the symbolism just BASHES you on the head, lol, there's no NOT understanding it--but WHY such a book had to exist... i just read it b/c it was about animals. and i read the whole thing... i kept expecting the good animals to finally triumph. the one was taken away in the meat cart--seriously, this book is responsible for my cynical nature. my dad got it for me, thought i might be interested since i ADORED watership down so much, and this was also a 'classic'... he apologized profusely.
the Crystal Shard series.... but that's such a BLATANT ripoff of lotr, i mean, psh. dwarves trying to recover the mithril mine they lost after delving too deep and awaking demons? come on. and a magical elf who is the queen of a paradise and beautiful as the day? and a 'crystal shard' that holds a dangerous power and must be destroyed--but cannot be destroyed by ordinary, mortal means... SERIOUSLY.
those are the only books i've read that i outright LOATHE. there i books i've read that i just didn't have any feelings about one way or the other--terry brooks has a writing style that just can't keep my focus, for instance, it's all so abrupt and seems so... contrived. and eragon... psh. just sad writing. plus i'm insanely jealous. i can write much better than this kid, who used every cliche in the BOOK, but he's published... pshh. and stranger in a strange land... i just couldn't agree with that book.
i just read a LOT. i have so many favorite authors it's insane. and honestly, i like most stuff. just give me a character who's misunderstood, and i love it. or animals. give me animals and it's good, too. i just like to READ. i dunno.
