The most recent thing is that I saw "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." THAT WAS THE MOST HIPSTER INFUSED NERDGASM I'VE EVER SEEN! There were just so many videogame references with memes shoved up the ass all I could do was enjoy it. It was really, REALLY GOOD!! What makes me sad was that it wasn't necessarily doing so well at the box office; a majority of it went to "The Expendables" - which is something else I still want to see. The movie is just really funny all the way, and not a lot of people seem to appreciate the creativity that went into it. It's kinda like what they did with "Sin City" movie in incorporating the mood and artistic theme into the visuals. The movie made me wish the world was kinda like that (at least for a while).
So here are some of the memorable things I really noticed throughout the film:
I really liked how they made so many videogame references, especially incorporating Zelda theme music in certain scenes. I also liked how when he killed enemies they burst into coins, which he used to take the bus home (haha, LOL!!).
Then I also noticed how there were many actors from various other comic book based movies. The 3 most notable (possibly even only ones) are the guy that acted as the "Human Torch" in the Fantastic Four films (as evil ex-boyfriend #2), the guy that acted as Superman/Clark Kent in "Superman Returns" (as evil ex-boyfriend #3), and Thomas Jane - the guy that acted as "The Punisher (2004)" - as one of the Vegan police (that's right, they have the Vegan Police). Then I also noticed how Michael Cera's character, Scott Pilgrim, kept on changing shirts, which made reference to these movies - so I think. He wore a shirt with the Fantastic Four emblem (except it had 4 1/2), and he wore a shirt with a pixelated skull. Though I did not quite notice if he wore a Superman shirt :/.
Then there were just certain scenes that made me feel like I was watching an cartoon perfectly orchestrated to life. The second date between Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers was priceless. Then there was the little Asian girl, Knives Chau, that turned into a stalker by being dumped. Plus, she got the highlights punched out of her.
They even sometimes broke the fourth wall. Whenever a character would drop an f-bomb they would bleep them and black bar their mouth, and then another character would ask, "how are you doing that with your mouth?"
The movie was freakin hilarious, amazing, and endearing. I honestly would not mind seeing it again. I just feel bad not a lot of people went to see it.
