Catching up with me...

Ok, it's been over two years since my last entry. Remarkably, not all that much has changed. I'm working at Turbine again, having quit to join a start-up and then rejoined Turbine when the startup ran out of cash. I'm even back on Dungeons&Dragons, with the promise of moving to the new game as soon as they actually ramp up a team for it. That's going painfully slowly, because Turbine can't recruit enough people to fill open spots on its existing games, much less to start a new one. If you know anyone who is interested, send me a resume -- we need everything from QA testers up to engineering lead.

Still living at the same place in Arlington; the rent is good, and it's fairly comfortable. I am looking for a real house, but ouch, houses are still expensive around here.

Socially, well, same old... I'm still in most of the same social groups I've been in for a decade, though the others in those groups are starting to drift off, making me somewhat more isolated than I used to be. I'm also slowing down in my old age, which makes it harder to go out and find new friends.

Ran the IAP guild game this year. I don't have the old ability to stay up all night anymore. I'm also bad as ever at estimating "doneness" of things; we had far too much stuff not finished at game start. Also made some misjudgements on game dynamics that in retrospect were dumb. I think people had fun, though, so it all worked out, and the ending was appropriately epic.
