The world is kind of odd when you're driving around at 4:30 in the morning. It's dark outside but getting a little lighter every second. The radio seems just a bit louder than it would otherwise be, and you can hear the words to the songs a little more clearly. If it's catchy, you're more likely to get it (you don't know me, you don't know me at all) stuck in your head. There's no cars around, but you're a little more freaked out about traffic. When you actually do find yourself with the five other people unlucky enough to be on the road at this hour, it's easy to lose track of where they are and cut them off when you change lanes unexpectedly. They also don't seem to care and you never hear them honk. A ham & cheese croissanwich tastes terrible because they make it right away and the cheese is still cold. Once you finally get to work, the internet seems all backward. Stuff that should be amusing seems inscrutable and things that would have been completely uninteresting after lunch yesterday now seem irresistibly funny. Website marketing e-mails take on a strange import (New Releases in Horror!). You wonder how long you can last before you doze off again.
