just give me a scene where the music is free and the beer is not the life of the party

this weekend, i realized that the songs i tend to come back to even after years of listening to them are ones that are music-positive, or searching for an musical ideal.

see: speakers push air (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yeelwuKnCs)

see: reinventing axl rose (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y12mwDvUrec)

see: who will save rock and roll? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tEyTULuoKg)

see: where have all the rude boys gone? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnJlpR4lawk)

i've started playing bass. maybe one day, i can write a song like that too, and it will make someone dance like no one else was watching, with one fist in the air.

otherwise.

obama won.

i feel like that maybe gives me license to try to not be a cynic again. after all, i'm an idealist at heart, i've just been disappointed so many times in my life.

but this time.... well, i thought in my whole fucking life i'd never see a non-white male as president.

and what do you fucking know

my first vote for president is for the first black president.

excellent.

i wanted to cry, but i didn't.

we'll have to see what he actually does with that power...
