In 2005, what was the best....

1. Film you saw?

Thanks to tak_ I saw the documentary "The End of Suburbia: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of The American Dream"

2. Song you heard?
The Bedroom Philosopher - Megan The Vegan

3. Purchase you made?
I've enjoyed taking photos with my new digital camera. http://www.flickr.com/photos/furphy

4. Kiss you shared?
Ever heard of the theory-practice gap...

5. Friend you made?
This year I met the really cool guy  David 'Zanchey' Adam and I had the pleasure of training him to be a Rover Knight (Rovers is a global cult that was started last century by the grand master BP). From creating multicultural cuisine (my LJ entry and  The Birmingham Egg Adventure photolog) to building a giant phallus for Prosh or the festive anachronism of the Rover's Medieval Feast, David has suffered grown under my tutelage.

David will make an excellent physician and boyfriend (girls if you would like his number just get in touch with me). He also likes custard.

On a different note the Pelican Point Rover Crew reminds David that he still owes the crew a cake as part of his knighting and Pelican Point will ruthlessly pursue him until he procures a cake of sufficient deliciousness.

6. Book you read?
"The House of God" by Samuel Shem.

I got a perverse pleasure from reading that while in DOSA waiting for my wisdom teeth operation. Interestingly my surgeon and anaesthetist (and the dentist who referred me to the surgeon) are Jewish and the House of God is the Beth Israel Hospital, a Jewish hospital in Boston. Interestingly the Beth Israel Hospital was where the idea of Primary Nursing was developed. The Alfred Hospital uses Primary Nursing.

7. Album you bought?
"In Bed With My Doona" by The Bedroom Philosopher (aka Justin Hazlewood)

8. Party you went to?
My Peter Combe themed birthday party complete with spaghetti bolognese, red cordial and toffee apples.

9. Vacation you took?
Whirlwind trip to Melbourne visiting The Alfred Hospital for a tour of the hospital and meet with the coordinator of the Graduate Nurse Programme.

10. Achievement you achieved?
Getting the job at the Alfred Hospital (one of the most sought after hospitals for graduate nurse positions in Australia) and becoming a licensed Registered Nurse.

11. Meal you ate?
Apple strudel at Pellegrinis on Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD.

12. TV show you watched?

 Little Britain was hilarious.

13. Gift you received?
One friend took me to an awesome Butterfingers (Aussie hip hop group) concert and another gave me some cool beer stem ware.

14. Lesson you learned?
Death happens so make the best of your life.
I prefer surgical nursing and I would like to avoid respiratory nursing.
I also learned something about women.

15. Concert you attended?
Tripod in Busselton (LJ Road Trip entry)

16. What was your Halloween costume this year?
I was slack and didn't dress up.

17. Who did you most admire this year?
A certain friend has been a source of encouragement and has been there to give me a kick up the arse PRN.

18. What's the nicest thing someone did for you this year?
My mum flew to Melbourne to inspect an apartment I wanted to rent while I had my wisdom teeth operation.

19. What's the worst thing anyone did to you this year?
Not taking me or their role seriously enough. It's not anything I can't forgive but I did get it sorted out quickly.

20. What was your New Year's Resolution last year? Did you keep it?
I probably said something about losing weight and amazingly I have lost over 8 Kg.

21. What's your resolution this year?
To enjoy Melbourne and exercise regularly, availing myself of the hospital's 24 hour staff gym.
