More job applications
After completing the application to Embry-Riddle, it dawned on me that I had done all the hard parts of putting together an academic job application and I should go ahead and look to see what other relevent schools were hiring. It turns out that there were a lot. I did some revising and sent out a bunch of applications today.
Texas A&M
University of Texas - Austin
Rensselear Polytechnic (two different positions)
University of Missouri - Rolla
Georgia Tech
University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign
University of Cincinatti (before I leave tonight)
Some of these I am pretty enthused about, others not so much... but still it felt good to get more applications out into the world. Still crossing my fingers on Embry-Riddle, though RPI looks like a good second choice, followed by UT - Austin.
All of this really drove home the feeling that I am going to be leaving the area soon. While exciting, in many ways this makes me sad. I knew it was probably coming... but still... the wheel turns, life goes on, and some patterns are not meant to be broken, apparently. Friendship is a wonderful thing, but sometimes can be so fragile and fleeting. Like flowers.
