Learnings from a business trip

Had a meeting in Frankfurt today. Decided to fly in last night as I'm not good at getting up early to fly there and back in the same day.

Key learnings:

1. With Heathrow as my closest airport, I am spoilt. Very very few other airports are so clean, well organised and with such a range of shops and refreshments.
2. With Heathrow as my closest airport, my stress levels increase. Rarely do you take off on time; instead having an unspecified 'slot delay' which invariably results in an extra 45 minutes on the ground before takeoff.
3. Frankfurt airport is my new nemesis. I was lost there for 30 minutes yesterday trying to find my hotel. Has nobody in Germany heard of signposts?
4. Travelling with only hand luggage is amazingly convenient. Provided you board the plane as soon as the flight is called. Otherwise you run the risk of there not being room for your case. Unfortunately this means that you cannot commit yourself to any activity before the flight as you have to keep your eyes peeled waiting for the gate number to be confirmed.
5. Heathrow Terminal 5 is much more accessible from the motorway. None of that fannying around on access routes; bam, off the motorway and you're there. This makes the world of difference at the end of a long day when all you want to be is home.
6. Why hasn't anyone on mainland Europe heard of WiFi?
