Oh so, yesterday I was on the phone talking to my bff Oz (aka Osen or Claire) about what the hell they could come up with for S6, you know... I'm like... well now I know. they're going to chase Bobby's soul for a whole year. *giggles*
Anyway.... during the episode I kept expecting this scene. You know, a reference to Ruby while Dean tursted Crowley so much. But I thought it'd go way more bluntly than it did.
So here... it's my take on what could have happened if I'd been writing the show. I miss Cas a lot, so instead of Sam, it's Cas. I think, reading what I wrote, that it's very in character for all players involved. You tell me.
Here it goes :
Dean knows he's going to have it as soon as he feels Castiel has walked in the room, which means they're now alone together. He turns to Castiel, feeling even more unbalanced than usual around him, not knowing where they stand now. He knows his stupidity isn't forgiven yet, but he can't tell if Castiel is still angry.
"You're going with Crowley. Alone." The angel simply states.
Dean keeps from ducking his head and cringing. "I know, Cas. But we're backed into a corner. What can I say? I believe him."
Castiel squints at him, then walks closer. Way too close. So Dean ends up backing away until he's trapped against the wall. He almost sighs, it's typical.
"Are you going to pound on me again?" He asks, wary.
Castiel narrows his eyes again, looks at him very close, like his usual structiny, but worse for emphasis. Dean squirms, he's pretty sure in those moments Castiel can read into his soul. "Cas..." he starts, not really sure what he's going to say next, but the suspence is killing him.
Castiel speaks, and it throws him up the wall. "And if that demon asks you to suck his dick and drink his blood, Dean? Are you gonna do it too?"
Dean's jaw falls open. "I..." he blinks. "Cas, were did you get that mouth?!"
Castiel's lips twitch. "You, of all people, are asking me."
"Right." Dean swallows, feeling the need to push off the damn dirty wall. "Can you back off now?"
"Dean." Castiel says, low and unwilling to drop the subject, but he steps away anyway. "I want you back alive."
Dean lets out a mix between a huff, a snort and a chuckle. "Well yeah, me too. Hence the crazy plans." He looks at those blue eyes that once trusted him so bad, and he knows he deserves this. he never deserved an Angel's faith, anyway. It's humilliating that even though he didn't want to, he started to believe he did, after so long of Castiel drilling he deserved in his head. "Last resort, right?" He says, pitifully, but pleading.
Castiel's fface doesn't shift, the silence is deafening.
"Cas." Dean takes a step toward Cas. "You trust me? I..." He looks down. They're both unaware of Crowley watching from the threashold. Dean looks back up. "I kind of need one of us to trust my gut on this."
Cas tilts his head, looks at him. "Just come back." He says eventually.
And the spell is broken. They step apart and away, the tension dropping down to usual 'End of The World'-esque.
"Awww...." Crowley says loudly. "Very nice built up guys. But so disapointing toward the end!" Dean and Castiel stare at him, Crowley spreads his hands and smirks. "What? No smooch! Can't a guy be sentimental?"
