Holiday Wrap-Up

Dec 30, 2005 13:20

Hope everyone had a happy $HOLIDAY_OF_CHOICE and best wishes for the next year!

Sampling of Christmas gifts:

- Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. After hearing ragdoll and arcessita gush about it, and then learning that, yes, the Anansi in the title is the same Anansi in Ghanaian folktales of my youth, I put it on my Amazon wishlist.
- $20 donated in my name to the Open Source Initiative. Bless you, new hippie sister-in-law.
- O'Reilly's Information Architecture for the World Wide Web.
- a good and sturdy toolbox. Now I have a place to place my (non-computer) hardware.
- CD of Brahms's Hungarian Dances No. 1-21.
- 23 books of recipes, including a few secret family recipes from Mr. A's mom and sister
- widescreen edition of Love Actually: mailed to me by a fellow Rickmanthusiast. I ♥ you, LJ friend!
- two books by Bill Bryson on the English language. YAY WORD ORIGINS!

... I just realized (for the eleventy billionth time) that I am a huge dork. Word origins, indeed.

Today's lunch:

- homemade chili (We got a crockpot as a wedding present!)
- an apple
- cranberry juice and Sprite mix (2 to 1 ratio. SO GOOD.)
- white chocolate covered Oreos (My new grandparents make homemade candy treats!)

food, holidays
