how close am i to losing you?

Sep 29, 2009 22:54

I wanted to put together a grand, sparkly picspam retrospective of these two lovely fictional human beings who are easily what I consider the best executed pairing in any show I have ever watched from start to finish, but things have gotten hectic, so I want to post it before I: A) forget, B) get really busy and don't have the time to post it, and C) start posting my mini-fanmixes.

If you've ever watched The West Wing you know why they're perfect. No need for an introduction. I do need to give a little context however to explain where I was coming from with this bad boy, but I'll save it for under the cut so I don't give anything away to people who haven't watched the show yet. And of course, I say the yet pointedly. WHAT ARE YOU F'ING WAITING FOR? I can berate you because I, too, was ridiculous enough to put this incredible undertaking off and there are no words to describe what I was missing.

01 | mama, you've been on my mind ; jeff buckley
when you wake up in the mornin and look inside your mirror
you know i won't be next to you, no, i won't be near
i'd just be curious to know if you can see yourself as clear
as someone who has had you on his mind

02 | untitled (how does it feel) ; d'angelo
said if you get a feeling
feeling that i am feeling
won't you come closer to me, baby
you've already got me right where you want me, baby
i just wanna be your man

03 | one evening [vv mix] ; feist
when we started, both broken-hearted
not believing it could begin and end in one evening
when we parted, moving on
and believing it could begin and end in one evening

04 | about today ; the national
today you were far away and i didn't ask you why
what could i say? i was far away
you just walked away and i just watched you
what could i say

05 | in the still ; you and me
i know that this can take time
i trust in you to realize (paradise)
the stars in the sky have shown me the way
little steps, big change (one day)

06 | post-war ; m. ward
i know when everything feels wrong
i've got some hard, hard proof in this song
i'll know when everything feels right
some lucky night

07 | just a boy ; angus and julia stone
no lonely hands grab my suitcase full of nothing
you took me in, gave me something to believe in
that big old smile is all you wore

08 | my hands are shaking ; sondre lerche
my hand are shaking from carrying this torch
from carrying this torch for you
my lips are bleeding from kissing you goodbye
from kissin you goodbye every night

09 | armchairs ; andrew bird
the awkward pause
the fatal flaw
time, it's a crooked bow
time is a crooked bow

10 | hysteric (acoustic) ; yeah yeah yeahs
no wonder, no wonder, other half
strange steps, heels turn black
the cinders, they splinter and light the path
and these strange steps trace us back

11 | disappearing world ; david gray
i'll be sticking right there with it
i'll be by your side, sailing like a silver bullet
hit 'em between the eyes, through the smoke and rising water
'cross the great divide, baby, till it all feels right

12 | something to talk about ; badly drawn boy
i've been dreaming all the things i've learned
about a boy who's bleeding, celebrate to elevate
the joy is not the same without the pain

Okay so I didn't give an introduction after all because when I tried to I realized...I couldn't really do it. I don't know, I have such a strange, strong relationship with this mix. I can tell you this though: every single song reminds me of a specific episode/moment in the latter two seasons of The West Wing. If you can guess each, I'll give you a present! (No, for real. We'll come up with something together, and even if it'll take a while, you'll get it. THATS HOW COMMITTED I AM TO THIS MIX.)

Oh, and any other fandoms/people/things to suggest? The more obscure, the more fun. :)
