Sunday Sweets: wine and Tony snacks

Jun 10, 2012 23:33

I had a pretty full day today, and I will chronicle the food.

First: I had a dentist appointment, but my favorite bagel place is right around the corner from there, so I stock up when I go there. In addition to the dozen for my freezer, I get one fresh with cream cheese (and a drink: usually apple juice) to eat after my appointment. Today's did not disappoint. Chewy, tasty, warm goodness!

Then: Jersey Hills Garden State Wine Growers Festival. It was right at Ramapo, so very convenient for me. I'd planned to go alone, but my dad said he would come with me and be my DD. Because it was a festival, the ticket was only for the wine tasting; anyone who didn't want to drink could just go on through and enjoy the booths. I got to taste a lot of nice wines--I tried to go with the more unusual ones; I could get a bottle of pinot grigio at Bottle King. I ended up with an apple wine, a spiced pear wine, a kiwi-melon pinot grigio, and some others as well. It was a nice day, though hot and humid!!

Finally: Tony night! I went to my friend Gloriann's house and had lots of snacks. She had sent out an inquiry asking what kind of candy/snacks are appropriate for the Tony Awards. I said Twizzlers, someone else said Twizzlers, non-pareils, and Jordan almonds. So I stopped at ShopRite before I left and picked up some of each of those. (I said Twizzlers because they're quiet and if you're in the audience, you don't want to disturb the actors. Non-pareils because... it's typical audience snack? And Jordan almonds in honor of the Best Actor in a Musical nominee, Mr. Jeremy Jordan.) Glo made cupcakes, set out cheese & crackers, and her friend Meredith brought M&Ms. It was awful (because I shouldn't eat such things!), but soooo good.
