I object!

So, this evening, I had the pleasure of watching the movie Hair.

Well, there's this one scene where the entire group gets arrested. And they're standing in the courthouse, and the judge sentences them to 30 days in the workhouse or a $50 fine each.

Obsessions never leave you. You may not be as crazy about it as you once were, but when similarities arise, you don't forget. (Even if you happen to be reading Prisoner of Azkaban and accidently think "Petrelli" when you really mean "Pettigrew." But I digress.)

So they're in the courthouse, and listening to the judge's sentence and when he gives it out, I want to pipe up either "[50] bucks? We don't even got [50] cents!" And then, of course, "Hey, yer honor, I object!"

I mean, I'm no longer obsessed with this movie. I'm no longer a part of that fandom. I haven't been for a while. Right now, I'm thanking my obsession, because as I do not have possession of my DVD at the moment, I do have three (oh, my goodness -- I forgot it was so many!) versions on VHS. (Someone made me a copy of the widescreen version; I taped it from HBO, and I bought the "old" VHS from ebay during the height of the obsession.) But the point is, even though I no longer find relevance to it everywhere (I still giggle when I pass "Racetrack Road" in Ho-Hokus, though), when similarities arise, I still recognize them.

Not my fault! The court scenes were almost identical! The similarties ended there, but still.

fandom: miscellaneous, musical: hair, newsies
