In the beginning, there was Gilmore Girls.
Gilmore Girls Episode 7.06: "Go, Bulldogs!"
Let me say first how much I adore all the pseudo-siblings on this show. There aren't that many actual siblings - and even rarer are ones that grew up together. There's Luke and Liz, Dean and Clara, Honor and Logan… that's it, as far as I can remember. Oh, and Jackson's brother(s), but we've seen them (him?) what? Twice? Doesn't count.
However, we have a lovely abundance of pseudo-siblings. Friends/acquaintances who just have a sibling vibe about them. First scene that made me think it tonight was Sookie and Michel bickering in the kitchen about who's going to be in charge when Lorelai's gone. It was such a sibling way of interacting. Then, there was Luke and Kirk in the diner. Kirk looks up to Luke so much, it's amazing - and Luke knows it, and 90% of the time, he doesn't take the responsibility lightly. He looks out for Kirk. The little talk he gave him about holding on to love and Lulu - it warmed my heart.
Also, though - Kirk singing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" - BWAH!
Lulu grew her hair out - it's pretty.
Luke and April seem to be getting more comfortable with each other. Their interactions from a few episodes ago seemed forced and awkward. The little touches - sitting on the couch, and he kind of touched her leg briefly - just an "I'm here" kind of thing - was very sweet. And she's calling him "Dad" and it seemed to be a regular thing.
I like that he went out on a date. You have to try - see what's out there. But I liked even more that it was a one-time only thing. Sometimes dates are just that - dates. And they don't blossom into a relationship.
Nitpick #1: Why was Lane hanging out with April when Luke went out? It looked like Lane was babysitting. But April's thirteen. She doesn't need a babysitter for a few hours. I was a babysitter myself at thirteen. I was glad to see Lane, though, no matter what they brought her in for.
Remember when I said that Kirk singing "You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin'" was the funniest thing ever? Right now it's tied for first place with the a capella version of "Livin' on a Prayer" - complete with the singers in formal wear!
Lorelai, Lorelai, Lorelai - why would you say that Rory's due for a quarter-life crisis? She just had one last year! Have you been so traumatized by the breakup with Luke that you forgot?? Do the words "pool" and "house" mean anything to you? ("Do the words 'Billy, Don't Be a Hero' mean anything to you?")
I really liked the little moment across the square of Luke seeing Kirk and Lulu. A little look between Kirk and Luke - like a "thanks" - and that's all that needed to be said. It was really sweet - both Kirk and Lulu and Kirk and Luke.
I ship Sheila and Bill!
"What if I die a crème brûlée virgin?"
"A crème brûlée virgin??"
"They make Condoleeza masks?" Well, they make Condoleeza mailboxes.
Then, there was Veronica. I'm still enjoying the show, though I really don't care about the fandom. These are just random thoughts that came to me during the show, because that's how big of a geek I am: I take notes.
Veronica Mars episode 3.06: "Hi, Infidelity":
I cannot get over Veronica’s professor. I keep hearing him yelling at Zack, hitting on Kelly. Professor Lasky he was, and Professor Lasky he always will be in my mind.
“Wallace isn’t here. I’m Evil!Wallace.” HA!! Is he ecallaW? Because that would amuse me to no end.
“Do you have any idea who I am?” No. Stick the test in the middle. Straight out of “Chicken Soup for the College Soul” - I totally called it!!
Logan made a Jane Austen reference. “Hey, I’ve read Jane Austen.” “And?” “And I think she would’ve liked Bukowski.”
I like Maya. I no longer think of Keith as “Elliott” or “That guy from Just Shoot Me” but LSG is always going to be Maya Gallo to me -- until she proves herself otherwise. Laura and Enrico have a nice chemistry, a comfortable air between them.
“Rory Finch” - double shout-out. Rory - female - GG, natch. “Finch” - Dennis - David Spade - Just Shoot Me!
Hee. Parker hurt Logan’s hand.
Ease up on the endearments, Echolls. You’re treading a thin line.
Aw, I think Parker and Piz would make a cute couple.
L&V seemed nice and comfortable together. They’re really growing into this relationship.
Aren’t there any other hotels in Neptune other than the Grand? Why is everyone there?
I’m confused. Was Keith showing up at Maya’s (don’t remember her character’s name) door a fantasy? What he wish he did? What really happened and the accident was what could have happened?
OK, he’s not there. Is he in the hospital due to injuries or at Maya’s hotel room?
Professor Lasky and Mrs. the Dean. Innnnteresting.
So is LuckyTim also trying to solve the rapes? Is he one step ahead of our lovely heroine?
Duuuude. What does Logan know and why can’t he tell? People are going to think it goes back to the whole Dick thing. But no - it can’t be Dick. I’m firm in my belief that it wasn’t Dick. But perhaps it goes back to the fact that when Dick confided in Logan, he told Veronica, who turned around and told Dick. Maybe Logan’s learning how to keep a secret.
Plus, look at my moods: I got a
new theme.
