BREAKING NEWS: Pawn Takes Rook Accepted At Dreamspinner Press!

ATTENTION GOOD PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET!
I am tickled to announce now that the ink has dried on the contract, my superhero novella Pawn Takes Rook has been accepted at Dreamspinner Press! To say I’m ecstatic is a horrible understatement. I could hardly sleep last night thinking about it and as it stands I’ve been up since 5:30 AM. Woo. I’ll sleep hard tonight.
Pawn Takes Rook has a projected release date with Dreamspinner of March/April 2013 so as long as the world doesn’t conveniently end in December, I am good to go. April 11th is my birthday. So happy freaking birthday to me!
As for what PTR is about, it’s a romantic comedy overloaded with cheese and pop culture references. See the blurb here:
The first time Hogarth Dawson sees superhero Memphis Rook, he comes to Hogarth’s rescue by cracking the heads of two random thugs like eggs into a skillet. Hogarth is utterly smitten, but he soon finds out that the famous Rook has been booted out of the superhero Power Alliance for failing to protect a civilian. The Power Alliance has a zero tolerance policy on that sort of stuff, but Hogarth devises a brilliant plan that will not only reinstate Rook but might earn himself a place in Power Alliance roster as well. As a technopath, Hogarth’s been trying to get into the Power Alliance. He even slept with their golden boy Captain Chivalry once upon a time, but still no dice.
What Hogarth thinks would be a simple jaunt of helping little ol’ biddies across the street and getting kittens out of trees turns into a shocking reality of citywide chases, foiling robberies, and coming face to face with his ex, Captain Chivalry himself. There’s such a thing as a dynamic duo, but Rook, Chivalry, and Hogarth make a rather gruesome threesome. As Hogarth’s hero’s journey unravels, he realizes the situation is no longer adding up. Maybe he should have divided by zero? Did Rook really need his help to get back into the Power Alliance after all? Or is Hogarth just a pawn in Rook’s game?
I have a master list of every reference I make and I’m thinking of making a game out of it for readers. ;D I also intend to make it a series of novellas similar to issues of a comic book. I think the best part of all is at long last I get my very own Shobana Appavu cover. And let me tell you that’s way better than a goddamn pony.
It is so time to bust out the cupcakes.
