(no subject)
two updates from me in one day? craziness. i just need to vent.
was scheduled 1 - 5 in the computing center and 5 - 7 at fairmart today for work. got into work, settled down, and then realize blackboard was down. and then imp was down. and portal. crap. tried calling the main helpdesk, no answer. called operations, no answer. decided to go see who was at the helpdesk. answer: no one. no one was scheduled 1 - 5 today. that's like..the busiest time of the day. seriously, wtf were they thinking. so ended up moving all my stuff up from the computing center to fairmart and had to deal with the 25+ voicemails and plenty of phone calls after that from angry people wondering why they couldn't check their email/get their homework off blackboard.
listen kiddies...i'm a student too, i need my homework as well. don't chew me out because of it cause there is nothing i can freaking do. i'm not personally responsible for fixing our entire network. grr.
so stuff finally comes back up at like 3:30pm which is good because that stuff dies down but of course there is a myriad of wireless and account problems still left to deal with. i had to configure someone's laptop for wireless in chinese. and a second one in french. fun times. ran over to my meeting at 4pm, stayed until 5:15 and excused myself because they still weren't done and came back to fairmart. turns out the guy working 7 - 10pm cancelled as well so guess who gets to pick up the pieces? sigh.
this was the most labor intensive labor day i've ever had.
