Oh yeah - that was another thing I wanted to respond to earlier. One of the first "symptoms" that I had was really bad heartburn and shortness of breath. My midwife told me that even at the very beginning, your heart can move within your chest in preparation for the general "making room" that occurs. Because it's in a new(ish) location, you can be more generally aware of your heart than in the past. I'm actually planning on seeing a cardiologist, because I just want to make sure everything is okay (I have a family history of heart disease). Anyway, I totally understand being able to feel your heart racing...
I also got my first maternity pants this weekend (one pair of jeans and one pair of work pants). I'm only just over 11 weeks, but I think I'm already starting to look pregnant -- stupid lack of abs! Today was a bad day for nausea :( I count myself lucky that I haven't had too many of those.
(I also have to wake up once a night to go to the bathroom - never had to do that before. Such a pain!)
It is fun to have a "buddy" through this! Let me know if you and Peter discover any good resources, etc. Adam and I just checked a bunch of books out at the library. Hopefully at least a few are good!
We bought a ton of books as well and so far our favorites are:
* Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Curtis & Schuler (a good overall book) * The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine (a sillier outlook but still comforting to read - especially when you're feeling like venting). * Dad's Pregnant Too! by Harlan Cohen (advice, tips & stories from expectant parents and new dads - again somewhat of a funny outlook)
If you find any books you REALLY like, let me know!
