Our own place

Oct 15, 2010 14:30

I moved, Saturday 9th. My boyfriend moved his stuff in on Saturday evening, and we cooked our first meal in our own place, together, on the same night. Chicken in oyster sauce, with mushrooms and red onions.

Sunday morning, we were awake at 8am, and ready to do our first grocery shopping together. We didn't realise the stores don't open until 10am on Sunday. I can't remember the last time I was awake at that time on a Sunday.

Tonight is the housewarming. I've made all the food myself, from scratch (i.e. sausage rolls with apricot and ginger chutney - an experiment!). We fell to sleep after entertaining/cooking for my sister and mother last night, so we were shopping for ingredients at 2am. A friend is bringing a bottle of homemade limoncello, and I'll be setting up a shisha pipe in the middle of the rug in the living room. I have several varieties of flavoured tobacco; Apple, banana, cherry, mint, coffee, and vanilla. All bought in Egypt.

If it wasn't so cold and wet outside, we'd be sat on the lawn with tea-lights.

Also tonight, it's monthly LGBT night, in Sheffield. Imaginatively named Climax, at the Student Union. Unfortunately, I pulled my back this morning so I doubt there will be any shapes thrown on the dance floor. How I pulled my back doesn't have any dramatic story attached - I was putting on my socks. But they are fabulous socks, and they colour coordinated with my shirt.
