Several of my friends on myspace, facebook and on my gchat contacts have messages or have their status showing that they will be making some changes in 2008. It ranges from what everyone’s plans are, but I find it both intriguing and interesting.
Why do we wait for the new year, or the new week, to make a change that we deem necessary?? The old saying/cliché goes: Do not leave for tomorrow what you can today. So why are so many people leaving their wanted changes for the new year??
I think that so many of us are inherently procrastinators. We want to keep indulging for a little while more in the thing we know should change - putting off changing until Monday or January 1st.
Thankfully, this is something I am becoming more and more aware of, and will continue to make my personal changes as I see a need. Maybe this will only work for me, but I have a feeling it would help a lot of us not just be better people, but to love ourselves and care for ourselves more.
I hope to continue to make the effort to end procrastinating my changes, something I decided years ago, and hope to inspire any who may read this to make your changes for the better today - why wait until next Monday or 15 days until the new year?
