George Lopez Show

So before Christmas I was watching the George Lopez show, mostly because it is before LOST, but also because he can be funny.

Anyways, in one of the scenes his father-in-law came in with a santa hat and said "cha-cha-cha" and salsa danced a little, and George Lopez said,

"OH, look! It is the Cuban Santa Clause. Except instead of a sleigh he has a raft and instead of reindeer, he has 12 of his relatives pulling it"

This comment bothered me a lot.

So people that live in a communist/socialist dictatorship are risking their lives to leave and George Lopez, a National figure, finds it appropriate to ridicule them on his TV show. I really think that as Latino's we should work together. Isn't it counterproductive to say thing like this? I think so. It still really bothers me. I realize that comedian's make fun of almost anything, but come on, when you are on a show viewed nationally maybe you should reconsider such comments. Would he find it funny if I made fun of how people from his country come here? Probably not. And I do not. We should be respectful, especially if people are risking their lives.

Sometimes people really just surprise you. . .
