I need a tag for all my "don't want to go back" posts

Even though this was the first time that I has a psychosomatic reaction to leaving campus, which is a good thing, I still feel no motivation to fly back. Excluding all the assignments I should have completed over break and didn't, I only have activities to look forward to for the next three weeks: belly dance performances, the ballet, hiking, trips to New York City and Montréal.

This time, I think I want to stay because I've spent the last week and a half arranging a fantastic summer. On Tuesday, I interviewed with and attended a staff meeting at People for Puget Sound, where I'll be coordinating fund-raising events as an intern. Unlike the other organization with which I interviewed, the people at People for Puget Sound are warm and humorous, and I'm very excited to spend some time helping their cause. On the paying position front, I've given resumés to a handful of local coffee shops, so hopefully I'll hear back from one in the upcoming weeks. I've found a belly dancing instructor who will not only teach me zills (finger cymbals), but will also provide some performance opportunities, and if my work schedule permits, I'm going to take Spanish classes. I have two potential trips and two social events already on my calendar, and it's only April.

In my passive, researching way, I've been spending a lot of time focused on the far future as well. I finally heard back from my Dublin program, and I've been accepted to study French and art history, and it's taking all my restraint to keep from researching travel options now. Last night, I browsed Craigslist for apartments in Fremont, but it's moot at this point when I can't move out for two years and have no potential roommate anyway because no one seems interested in coming to or staying in Seattle. This is what I get for having unbalanced relationships, I suppose.

A few quick notes for Washingtonians:
-Don't sign the petitions to get I-933 on the ballot this fall! "This initiative, now known as I-933, would require that local governments and the state either pay property owners if land protections affect their property values, or waive the protection... It would gut protections for everything from salmon habitat protection to open space to preserving heritage trees to enforcing building size and height restrictions." For more information, please read this.
-The Washington State Quarter Poll is closing May 1st, so make sure to get your vote in before it closes! (And yay for Squirty the Orca!)

I really should go pack, though, since I'm leaving in a little over an hour. Only three more weeks until I'm back.
