Time for another update!

Work has been UGGGGGHHHH!!! Past couple of weeks have been long ones to say the least. Our project needed to be finished with construction by last Friday and we just finished yesterday. We had to work this last week under the radar because we completed out the construction hours in our project plan so they could start the approval of the test design. So I have like 50 hours of project work i have to figure out how to get into the plan so I can get paid for it :P Luckily I have 1 other project that's bonusable (and another that's not) that I can probably siphon some of the hours into that project. They also just put me on testing yesterday, just when I thought I was finally off that project, they give me more - kinda the story of my life at work! But it works out because I need to get those construction hours in somehow, that's a lot of money to lose!! On top of that, I've got maintenance to perform on our internal sites and I'm also having to keep on top of all of the other programmers on my team to make sure they're also keeping up with the maintenance - these are serious items that need to be done to prevent our site from crashing weekly, which i'm happy to say it has been 2 weeks now since we've gone down!! Technically that is the Team Lead's job, to make sure we're getting things done, but he is fucking horrible!

Speaking of...I had my raise review with my boss and he is super impressed with me. A few weeks ago, I went to him and told him that I was feeling really burned out and having trouble thinking about anything that was even remotely complex because of it. He said he'd try to lighten the load, but at the same time, there really wasn't room to do that with the project and all. So I pushed myself really beyond my limits and got shit done and also took time to create a policy for how we will handle entering our code changes into Subversion. He said he was really impressed, and even surprised, that I was performing at rockstar abilities after that conversation. He was also so impressed with the policy that he wants me to work with other teams to get a global IS dept policy in place. HELL YEAH!!! That compliment lit a huge fire under me and now I have all these plans to create policies for production releases, set up training for all people on my team to learn all of our systems - from server restarts, FAQs/issues, so that no matter what, we always have someone who knows what to do. We talked for a good 30 min about all the things he wants me to do. Now my goal is to be so great at the leadership on my team, that I overshadow the current Team Lead and force my boss to demote him and promote me :) My boss has already said he doesn't make a very good Team Lead, and my efforts will probably be for naught, but worth a shot for the job I've wanted since I first started working there.

There really hasn't been anything else going on unfortunately. My life is work right now, but I'm hoping that changes in a few weeks, or at least when our new website goes live, which is currently scheduled for Aug 15. I do have some plans coming up though. Tuesday the 20th is the NWL All-Star game, the 24th-25th I'll be in Wausau visiting family - gonna go boating, swimming, grilling, bonfire, outdoor concert and whatever else we can cram into the weekend! This of course all hinges on the weather cooperating, if it rains I don't know what the hell we'll do :P July 29th is an outdoor concert with my fav local band, South Farwell. The first week of August I'm on call, and also Aug 6 I have a bachelorette party, Aug 7 I work 8-2 (which I'm gonna have to change to 7-1 :/), then charity baseball game from 2-?, then possibly my friend's daughter's 4th birthday party, if it's still going on after the game. After that I'm pretty open, but hope to visit my friends in Minneapolis soon, probably during the MN State Fair, last 2 weeks of Aug. Maybe I'll squeeze one in July 31st too :)

This weekend will be uneventful, got a few things to do this morning and a massage at 10, which will probably leave me wanting to lounge all day, which is fine with me cuz I could use some relaxation! Well, I should get ready to head out!
