'Can I court you?' - actual question posed to me, at which I laughed

I bought a bike. It is a faded gold color, has a horn and working brakes, was probably created before I was, and I love it. The first day I had it, I crashed - scraped a knee, got some wicked bruises, but we both survived. The next day I braved chilly Autumn winds to further explore my neighborhood, which I also love.

Today I voted. The state of Missouri had failed to actually send my ballot in their first mailing to me. So, when the appropriately-fat envelope arrived today, I hussled to get it notarized. I spent an hour in the Notary's office and had to pay $15. But, I voted! Hurray!

Last week I lost my keys and had to spend the night on Kim's floor. I have never before lost any set of keys, and was expecting a 50 euro replacement fee. I was very relieved with it being only 25. Last Friday I found 15 euro in the supermarket, also something that never happens to me.

I feel like this is a good sum of my time in Germany thus far: great surprises and accomplishments are accompanied by every problem and challenge. This weekend there is a huge party at the university - multiple DJ's in every cafeteria and eating place. The train that links each end of campus is running all night. The morning after, I am headed to Berlin, surely with a hangover, for some KU stuff. I can't wait!
