Echo Bazaar: June 17th Journal Entry

Jun 17, 2010 23:26

[I've decided to do a character study through daily journals.  So behold, Asher Wilsford's journal about his adventures in Fallen London.]

My second day in Fallen London, or the Neath as I've heard some call it, proved to be very productive.  I was able to secure an attic room using my own money - no relying on handouts or favors this time.  Though I must confess, I did act a bit pitiful in order to convince my new landlady to lower the price.  Still, all that matters now is that I won't be spending another cold night out on the street.  I also managed to find a job investigating some potential revolutionary or something.  I'm not exactly sure what it is he's suspected of doing, but I know what to look out for.  I've found some leads and should be able to finish the job tomorrow.

I've made a few acquaintances already but none close enough to depend on.  All in all, I suppose I've begun to lay the foundation for a successful life in the Neath.  It's an odd place to settle, for sure, but I'll see where life takes me.  At least there is never room for boredom here.  It's hardly been two days, yet I've seen and heard so much more than I ever did on the surface.  I'm afraid some of this knowledge proves to be too much for me and has caused a bit of paranoia on my part.  I'm told something called Prisoner's Honey may provide some relief.  Perhaps I will check it out tomorrow.
