#23 Vanadium- Chapter 10

I'm dreadfully behind, but I'm still trying! Here's the next chapter-

"Well, here we are," Carrie announced as she pulled into her usual spot in the high school parking lot. She was relieved to have arrived-- the car ride back had been almost entirely silent after the first ten minutes or so. Brook Lynn wanted to talk to Professor Malloy because she found him to be interesting. Professor Malloy was obviously irritated at something and had bitten off her head after the first comment. Now she could understand why, exactly, his old boss had needed to get rid of him.

"This is it?" Professor Malloy asked, looking at the school with contempt. James Madison High School was a large, cement building that looked very impersonal. The truth was that it was actually built from plans for a prison, so it wasn't the most child friendly campus. It was very eery in the afternoons when most of the other faculty was gone and they turned off unused hallways lights to conserve energy. It made the place look abandoned and anytime she stayed later than three thirty she always felt worried that she would be attacked by the Phantom of the Opera or something as she walked down the halls.

"Yes, this is." She didn't know what was irritating him so much, but he was confusing the hell out of her! He had seemed a bit standoffish when she met him, but got along with her daughter Brook Lynn amazingly well, and now he was being a total jerk! The hell?

"Looks like a hellhole," Professor Malloy commented.

"Well, it's not," Carrie ground out. She wanted him gone.

"So where is this Mr. Ian Woon fellow?" Professor Malloy drawled.

"Just go in the main entrance, hook a left and ask Noa- er, Ms. Morin as everyone else calls her- for Mr. Ian Woon. She'll show you to his office. Now, out with you! I have to go grocery shopping!" She unlocked the doors and ushered him out, not caring if she was a little brisk. He was getting on her nerves.

Running total: 9,426/50,000
