have you ever paused to think of the long term effects of this "just" war? have you thought about the example that it sets for other nations wishing to get rid of their nasty enemies? i guess it's ok for india to nuke pakistan then, since pakistan is a military dictatorship just like iraq and pakistan has nukes. oh wait, pakistan is a US ally. whoops. preventative war is a monstrous thing to unleash upon the world.

have you thought about the near destruction of the UN? half a century of international diplomacy down the drain because of one man's political agenda (wolfowitz and his neo-reaganism bullshit). what's going to happen the next time there's an international crisis? i guess dubya's gonnna come to the rescue right? he's gonna protect the whole world! hooray! ever stop to consider that the world doesn't want dubya as our global bully?

we're being plunged back into pre-WW1 days when there was NO forum for international diplomacy. without a functioning UN, we're left with the same tangle of treaties and allies that plunged us into WW1 and following from that, WW2.

have you thought about the political implications of the united states becoming a de-facto empire in the 21st century? if you EVER want to take the subway without armed guards again, i can tell you right now that your country, your government, and your redneck right-wing psychos are pissing away that chance for a long time to come. every short-term solution breeds thousands more fanatical enemies of the US. where did saddam come from? how about osama bin laden? they were short term solutions, schemed up when the US powers-that-be decided to promote easy violence rather than difficult diplomacy. i mean, fuck, the US sold anthrax to saddam hussein! that's fucking insane!

sure saddam's a bad guy. and it's the US, acting in the same reckless fashion it is now that put him on the map. when i think of the world 10 years from now, i shudder to think of the fallout. i'm sure there will be plenty more bad guys for you to send your sons off to fight, while the rest of the world shakes its head at america's stupidity and short-sightedness.
